Reverend James A. Hayes serves as Pastor of Bridges Grove A.M.E. Zion Church with a heart for ministry, a passion for preaching, and a deep commitment to shepherding God’s people.
Guided by faith and led by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Hayes brings wisdom, compassion, and vision to the church. Through biblical teaching and servant leadership, he equips the congregation to grow spiritually, live faithfully, and serve purposefully.

Meet Our Pastor
Reverend James A. Hayes is a devoted servant of God, passionate preacher, and compassionate pastor committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helping believers grow in faith and discipleship. He is married to Mrs. Katrina Hayes, and together they are the proud parents of two children, Channing and Chelsea Hayes.
Rev. Hayes earned an Associate of Liberal Arts degree from Clinton College and later received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a minor in Human Resource Management, from Strayer University. In 2023, he earned a Master of Divinity degree from Hood Theological Seminary and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Hood Theological Seminary.
Rev. Hayes has faithfully served within the A.M.E. Zion Church for many years. Before coming to the North Carolina Central Conference, he pastored Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. Zion Church in Gastonia, North Carolina, for five years at the South Carolina Conference. He later served as pastor of Franklin Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Laurinburg, North Carolina, for three years. He currently serves as pastor of Bridges Grove A.M.E. Zion Church.
His ministry is centered on preaching the unchanging Word of God, nurturing spiritual growth, equipping disciples, strengthening families, and extending Christ’s love through community outreach. Rev. Hayes believes the Church should be a place where lives are transformed, faith is strengthened, and every person is encouraged to discover and fulfill God’s purpose through Jesus Christ.
With a heart for servant leadership, Rev. Hayes is committed to inspiring others to live faithfully, love generously, and serve selflessly, while advancing the Kingdom of God for His glory.
